Dedicated to Margaret and John Connolly! Graham and I had a delicious barbecue today, fine company and hours of taking photos at Birdie Beach Lake Munmorah State Conservation Area with BP'er John Connolly and Margaret.I am very pleased with this shot as I forgot to put my contacts in so couldn't see the settings LOL.
This little fellow is a Blue Wren standing 160 mm's from tip to tail and boy can they move quickly! Good for the waistline! They can be found in areas like where we were today, dense cover of low shrubs, tussocks of grass and bracken interspersed with open areas. ~Pat and Graham

Well I hope you and Margaret had a great day John!

We had a enjoyable day, Graham went to bed a couple of hours ago but I wanted to get this up.

Hope you all didn't get too burnt!

You sure have reason to be pleased with this one. I've never seen this bird. Must be one just you folks have, but any wren is pretty hard to get such a good shot of. I understand about not being able to see the settings. I have to whip my reading specs on and off when I'm doing such things. #8391873

Hi there Amanda, so delighted you popped in! Isn't this little bird so pretty!
No enhancement either, this colour is the original blue! I was very lucky wasn't
I. ~Pat #8393335

Graham Robards February 19, 2010

LOL Mitch, I usually wear glasses but wear contacts when using a camera.Don't you just
hate whipping the glasses off, then you are as blind as a bat until your eye is in the veiwfinder. And when you want to quickly check the settings you can't see.

Thank you for dropping by, I do love this little bird as it is my first bird shot, pretty chuffed!

Thank you ever so much Summer, ever seen a Blue Wren before either until yesterday.

I can't say I was ever into bird photography so didn't notice them. Now I am hooked on birds!

What a fantastic capture of this juvenile male fairy wren, Pat! In the bird world, I suppose you would call him a teenager, when mature all his head will be that beautiful blue!
Thank you for the dedication, we really enjoyed out time with you and Graham. apart from the sunburn it was an amazing day! #8396043

Graham Robards March 28, 2010

Thankyou so much everyone! To say I am estatic is that!ESTATIC.!

A very hard shot as John can attest, the little wrens were very difficult to shoot as we were in their natural surroundings.

Nice to get a Finalist for it, many times you see birds taken at zoos, it isn't the same is it.

Best wishes
