Aimee, I really liked your previous umbrella shot, but I think I like this one more. I love all of the lines and angles, not to mention the great colors. Well done. #1227538

Aimee C. Eisaman January 16, 2010

Thanks everyone! I think that every photographer should play with an umbrella.....it's great fun really even if for only 10 minutes. I'm keeping my umbrella just for photography purposes....not going to use it for real. I thought I might be able to use it as foreground interest somehow or maybe have someone peeking over the top of it....who knows! I have a model shoot scheduled on the 30th. Have alot of planning to do before then, but most likely I'll wing it like I always do! LOL :P #8302509

Anthony L. Mancuso January 16, 2010

Thats great Aimee, what are the details of your model shoot and how did you land it? #8302631

Aimee C. Eisaman January 16, 2010

Well I'm taking some lessons with Jennifer Alder as you know and my second lesson was based on Senior portrait marketing and since she started off my lessons with a full portfolio review she knew I had only 1 senior portrait in my gallery. I'm not sure how she got the contacts, but she looked up models in my area. There weren't very many because we have as many cows as people, but there were a few. She sent out emails to 6 models and 6 relpied that they MAY be interested, but one said she was definitely interested and she is the one that set a date and time. It isn't till the 30th because I'm out of town next weekend. I'm so excited and nervous at the same time. The model does not know that I have never worked with a model before and I don't think I want to bring that up yet...want to see how she thinks I did at the end of the shoot. It will be a mini shoot of about 30-45min. unless it's a great day and she wants to stay longer. I'm still in the planning stages, but want to shoot at a old farm 1/2 mile down the road. Need to walk a few doors down and ask the owners. My husbands aunt keeps her horses there in the summers and used the barn for hay so I'm sure it shouldn't be a problem. There is the main barn and a bunch of out buildings, a stream, a wooded area with a long road going thru it, so many possibilities! The main idea for the shoot will be winter theme even if there isn't any snow that's what we will plan for. Coat with hood, bright colorful hat and matching gloves maybe. Want to work with getting a close up with a scarf...always wanted to do that. I only really need 5 images so we don't need to have a huge plan. The model is doing the shoot for free and signing a release form in exchange for about 5 fully edited images for her portfolio. So far the other models keep 'himhawin' around so this may be my only one from this group. I'm also trying to find a real person (not a 'model') to pose for me. This year is going to be all about portfolio building and advertising. Making money is not a top priority this year. Now I just need a nice day where I can have Dwayne watch the kids and I can hit up town with some cards and flyers. I'm less nervous about a shoot with a model than going into businesses and talking to people. :~) #8302685

Anthony L. Mancuso January 16, 2010

WOW, thats awesome...good luck with the model, I'm sure you'll do fine...my cousins kids have done a lot of modeling and I find them much easier to shoot because they are more comfortable in front of the camera than most people and already know how to pose...can't wait to see how they come out! #8302898

Jeff E Jensen January 16, 2010

Good luck Aimee! Sounds like a good adventure. #8302924

Dale Hardin January 16, 2010

Aimee, this umbrella image is great! I like is so much better than the first one. Excellent lines and effects with a super comp. Well done.

And congratulations on the model shoot. You will do wonderfully so don't worry. All will go like clock work. #8302975

It's cold, it's wet, it's grey and it's January so why should I be surprised! But your umbrella with its beautiful pastel colors reminds me that summer is only another five utility bills away.
I also like the way that the ribs and stays form a three dimensional star in this tight shot, they help to make a shot that warrants more than just a "Aw. Pretty" glance.
I read your plan for the model shoot and I am so impressed. I would have sleepness nights worrying about it.
I wish you every success and know that we will get to see the results; I look forwards to it. #8303226

Ellen H. Robertson level-classic January 17, 2010

Love it, beautiful colors, great lines, wish it was warm enough to use it.

Congrats on the model shoot. I think the scarf shot sounds wonderful. With your creativity these will be better that the shots she paid for. #8304414

Aimee C. Eisaman January 19, 2010

Yes Tony I'm looking forward to shooting someone I don't have to give specific instrucitons too...I should be a fun experience! :~) Thanks!

:~) Thanks Jeff and Dale.....nothing goes just right, but I count on that because the best images I get are always the one I didn't plan for!

Peter...winter is always a cruel shock even though it comes every year! I am nervous about it a bit, but no more nervous than if it was a paying client! :~) Thanks!

Thank you Ellen....I need to find a scarf now...maybe today I can get out shopping for a scarf and maybe a fun prop or two! :~) #8311220

Aimee this is most beautiful. The colors are bold, the composition flawless, the angle interesting and the icing on the cake is the colors on the main steel rod. I hope we see this again, if not, suggest you try to reduce the little bit of noise, specially in the red color. Good Luck!

Hope your model shoot went well!

Aimee C. Eisaman February 13, 2010

Why thanks so much for that wonderful compliment UB! :~) The model shoot was a bust....model didn't show up. Found out she was really sick, but now can't nail her down for another date. O'well there are other models! I'm not sure that is noise you are seeing as much as it is the texture of the umbrella and the light shining thru from the sky? #8379872
