Description

On a sunny day, Antarctica is not always monochromatic. This lovely island was one of our landing spots. I considered it for a "Where in the world? post. But many of you know where I have been and the penguins, which can be seen by the trained eye, would be a dead giveaway.
Afternoon sun, Sigma 70-300@78mm; f11@1/400 sec; circular polarizer. Minor levels adjustments.

Thanks Paul, Colleen, Carolyn, Karen, and Colette. I can't make up my which of the many shots I have of this adventure to post. This is the third (but the first fabulous one, eh Paul ... LOL). I am planning a week of icebergs and could do a month of penguins, but that may be pushing it a bit ;) #1053252

Allan L. Whitehead January 21, 2005

Where's 'Waldo', eh… Magnificent prfesentation and the penguins are even waving at you. I'm sure that we'll be seeing this one again in a month and then a couple of days later as well. Very well done, my dear friend - your good friend, Allan

I'd look forward to seeing 'penguins and icebergs', sort of like Waldo's 'ebony and Ivory', eh… 'A' #1053264

Thank you all so much for your generous commnents. The sun was often a distant memory and I have several shots that remind one of how cold and bleak this continent can be ... though still awe-inspiring. I will post another tomorrow from on this island. In case you missed it, those little dots climbing up the hill in the snow on the far left are penguins too. #1055064
