This is a well done photo, but you need to give her more room in front of her. She is looking off the page. In the long run, the hate isn't as important as having her properly composed.

But amazing focus and lighting. Between her hair and the jacket, it is almost a texture shot instead of a portrait. Fantastic! #147667

Well done! I agree with Josh, as well, though. #646758

Thank you for the critques..
I don't understand what you mean by 'the hate'?
I sorta like the tight crop, guess this is a personal taste, but appreciate your opinion. Thank you! #647165

Susan,

The subject is the model. In particular, the model's face. You have her face in the rule of thirds, but running off the paper. Which means that we are drawn off the print. So using this as as starting point, everything behind her head is pretty much dead space to the photo and the more dead space you have diminishes the impact of the subject.
You filled this photos with her, her jacket and the hat. Her face pointing off the frame is a psychological message to ignore me. The jacket is center frame and therefor pulls no weight to the image for impact. The hat is left for the eye to look at. That is what almost everyone will be drawn to for the subject.
But this is a portrait, so if you put more space on the other side of her, you would put the girls face back in the game and create a sense of assymetrical weight to the image with the dead white space vs. the girl with a hat.
Otherwise you need to crop it down more to removed more of the detractors. #647197

That makes sense and I appreciate you caring enough to take the time to explain! :) #647251
