Love the photo! One question - the darkness around the image is that added from photoshop or is that from the original photo? I am curious on how to achieve that effect as it help to accentuate focus on colours in certian areas. Once again amazing photo! :) #596190Gavin N. Davies January 29, 2007
Thanks. This was a composite of 5 images (at different exposures), merged into one using the HDR technique (http://www.luminous-landscape.com/tutorials/hdr.shtml).Shot 1 = F14 1/13
Shot 2 = F14 1/6
Shot 3 = F14 1/3
Shot 4 = F14 0.6
Shot 5 = F14 1.3
Apart from the merging (and toning), I only made minor adjustments to the levels.
I think the darker parts in the foreground are just a result of the lighting on the day.
Thanks,

Agree with everyone else--beautiful photo. To Paul G..there's more than one way to 'skin a cat,' as the saying goes. You can also get the same darkened effect around your image using the vignette technique. That is, in PhotoShop, create a new layer, and with your brush tool, set the opacity to 3-5% (set to your taste), make sure your color palette is set to black, and paint around the outer edges of your image.
