to Michelle P. ... pilot is lamp on studio flash . It is worm light like regular lamp. Pilot use is that we can set up position of flash and see how is model lighten . But its preaty strong and it could be used as light source too, specialy with digital camera. softbox is big squared adjustment on studio flash wich purpose is to soften the light ( as the name say )...
