Shelly this is awesome! Could you tell me what your light source was and how you took this shot? I love macro and this just makes me want to do it more... Excellent job!

Hi Ed, thanks for the kind word! I had a desk lamp, some leaves from a plant and a rock. I didn't really prefer the bright spot from the light source, it could have been better/not as harsh, but shooting veggies/fruits before, I have found that some look better with a light source showing as do eyes on a human, it gives life with a catchlight. Of course I misted the whole setup to show some kind of perspiration that would be achieved by eating the pepper. LOL Then of course, the ever so popular left corner diagonal composition. LOL I believe natural light from a window during the day is better on food shots, lamps are more harsh, but it can be achieved. I was in aperture priority mode 8.0 and it gave me 1/8 shutter. I have heard some of the Nikon Coolpix cameras are the best with macros, what do you have? Thanks again! #17902

Shelly, Thanks for responding so fast, I did not expect it... First of all, a desk lamp wow great job I would have thought it would be really harsh on the subject and like drownd it out but you proved it can work awesome!
Sec. I agree that natural light is best.
I'm sure you used a tripod right? LOL
My camera in a Minolta DIMAGE 7 I love it for my firt digital. I just became a member of this site so hopefully you will see some of my work even if I am new at some of this.
Oh and I like macros as well although I really prefer abstract and neon.

Ed, shhh, don't tell anyone, but I don't like using a tripod. LOL The Dimage 7 huh? I love their ad with the green apple! Abstracts, now that is something I admire and would love to do, but I have found I just don't have the eye for it. It takes a special eye. I hope to see some of your abstracts soon. Neon? The lights? Email me when you have some new shots posted, just go to my gallery and contact photographer. : ) #17956
