Substantial Dihedral Angle

Uploaded: July 26, 2020 | Entered: July 26, 2020 11:22:13

Description

It's all in the wings. When our son, who happens to have a degree in aerospace engineering, saw this photo and a couple of others I'd taken at virtually the same moment, he mentioned anhedral and dihedral angles, referring to the wing angle (upward or downward from horizontal). This a painted lady butterfly (Vanessa virginiensis) on a coneflower. They are currently migrating through our area and make a great subject for experimentation with the extension tubes I got recently as they are much more interested in feeding than they are in me!
