Description

Pre-pandemic capture...Bat watchers line up on Austin's South Congress Avenue Bridge just before sundown. Each night during the summer months nearly one and a half million Mexican free-tailed bats call the underside of the bridge their home. Nightly, they emerge and put on a massive aerial show as they swarm out for their nightly insect feed. (They typically eat 20-30 thousand pounds of insects each night)...you're cautioned to bring a hat for this spectacular show. :)

Wow, Ms.V! I was wondering why they were all on the bridge. Maybe an umbrella would work even better! Awesome shot! Have you ever taken pics of the bats? Great story! #11894738
