Description

When I first visited this beach in 2001, I was told it was where the classic sitcom Gilligan's Island was shot. As it turns out, only the pilot and first episode were shot here. The rest of the series was shot at a studio in LA, where the "lagoon" was frigid and stagnant pool in close proximity to an interstate highway, the noise of which delayed filming until after rush hour. The real lagoon is calm and lovely during summer months. In the winter, the surf here can be deadly.

Who knew ...? That must mean Gilligan and the group were rescued much earlier than we thought .. ;-) Thanks for the description, Martha; it's always nice to get the inside story. Your panoramic here is beautiful and I'm glad you included the two people for perspective. #11760079
