Well, sorry about this. It is an edit of a picture I took this morning but done on my Android tablet using the Gallery app. I know the color may not be quite right, but then BP seems to have garbled the upload and it doesn't look sharp.

I posted this for those of you still suffering from winter. I left the ice storms of sourthern Missouri early this week, got the benefit of a snow storm in the southwest mountains of Colorado when I was visiting Canyonlands Nat'l Park two days ago, but today was definitely Spring in the canyon floors of southern Utah today. #1566163

Stephen. Glad to see a bright, sunny picture. The snow was minimal down here along the Front Range but it seemed quite a bit in the mountains. Glad you are getting closer to home and spring. I like the complementary colors - welcoming and warm! I lie the composition with the large foreground tree bringing you into the picture and the background one bringing you through.Quite nice, even if BP didn't get the upload as you saw it. #10996364

Stephen, I like the comp on this a bunch. I do agree with you about the color being a bit warm, but it sure warms the soul for the cold winter we've been having.

I like the side lighting as well. It adds some nice depth to the photos.

Do you know what kind of tree is blossoming? It has very pretty flowers on it! #10996454

Stephen, glad you gave the disclaimer on this image. Your reason for posting to pacify those pour souls suffering from winter is commendable.

However, as an image, it doesn't meet your history of excellence. Not only the color but the comp. Mainly the POV. The section of the background behind the tree is very busy and an image shot from either further to the left, or getting closer to the tree to the right of this exposure would have resulted in a less cluttered composition. #10996499

Thanks for the spring pic-I did the edit in my head and it is beautiful:) I know it is coming this way soon. Looking forward to your pictures when you get home! #10996530

Glad this brought some sun into your lives.

Dale, I don't have a picture from a different angle, but do have one with shallow DOF. Keeping in mind that the intent here is to focus on Spring, strengthened by the less common desert context, I think the isolation helps some. A tighter crop also seems to help the primary elements, the blossoms, compete with the busy background.

Kalena, I was presuming they were apple. But this link indicates that somehow there is an extensive variety of fruit contained in the very small orchards that were visible. These orchards are at the mouth of a canyon that is only about a quarter mile wide.

love your last post. I really like both of them. I like the contrast of the texture of the rock to the softness of the flowers. I like how one tree leads to the other tree. and the sq crop works on the last one. thank you for the hope of spring.

today and tomorrow 55 we now do not have any piles of snow except in parking lots. Yea!!! #10996946

Thanks for posting to other shots, Stephen. I like them a lot. You could still accent the color in the background on those for the "springtime" effect you were after. #10997061

The middle one works best for me Stephen and thanks for giving me the location both in the title and the link. Will be making a virtual visit.
After months of cold, cold, cold with only the occasional warmer day we now have just shy of 70F. Not a sign of life in our yard but a few days of this and things will come on in a rush. #10997159

I also love the second shot-the DOF is really nice. The mountains provide a beautiful backdrop for the blossoms. And I like the inclusion of the rest of the tree. #10997214

Sorry I'm so late on this one. I think each have their own merits, but prefer the second image.

I love spring in Utah. It was 60° on the weekend, and snowing today. #10997782

Stephen Thank you so much for sharing a little spring with us! I really like the middle one the best! I love the composition and colors in it.
My first 2 crocuses bloomed today but it is suppose to snow tomorrow! #10998166

I was concerned on what to say about the original post – thanks for the explanation and redeeming the shot with the last two posts. I prefer the Fruita (last post) mostly because of the simplicity of the shot. The BG is busy but due to the DOF I think it works OK and certainly shows place. Thanks for the winter warm up. #10998723
