Line of Palms

Uploaded: September 15, 2013

Description

One morning on a recent trip to Kauai, I was sitting on the lanai watching the clouds roll in from the east when I noticed that at a certain point they briefly illuminated a line of palm trees on a ridge that was normally hidden in the layers of verdant hills. I grabbed my camera, which happened to have my 100mm macro lens on it (the longest lens I had on the trip) and quickly snapped a few shots hand-held before the view changed. At home I straightened, cropped and added some Nik filters to help define the layers. Original in the comments. For the PG101 Before and After Theme.

f/13, 1/500, ISO160, 100mm, cropped

You've defined the layers very well here, Martha, and the light as well. I think the change in tone and the crop to define the area of interest are quite nice for this too. #10844979
