I added a filter to it in Color Effex Pro 4, I think I like it better. #1511117

Very cool concept Beth and glad to see you experimenting.

Have a couple suggestions for this. One is the same as the bird image. It needs lightening up and the levels layer is just the ticket. Would suggest moving the white slider to the left to about 175.

The other thing is the image blend. I assume you want the dog to look as if he is coming out of the tree and that the dog is selected and on another layer. Would suggest you also put the dogs shadow on it's own layer as well.

Now apply however you blended them to the shadow, but on the dog, do the blending using a mask with a gradient blend. The idea is to have the nose and face of the dog with no part of the tree showing through, or with any overlapped texture. And that transition would be subtle if a gradient is used. #10537624

Very cool concept...also WLTSDS. I kind of like the coloring before the filter was added as the dog looks more like the true color of a chocolate lab in that one. #10539073

what a cool concept Beth, I really like this. I have to agree with susan on this I favorite your original post because the color is more the color of your lab. plus I really like the lighting on his face and you notice it more on the lighter one. can't wait to see WLTSDS #10539128

Really neat idea. Ditto above. Minor point, but the tags are distracting me from his face. Would it make sense to remove these? Looking forward to the edits. #10540390

I did some more work on this with much Thanks to Dale for helping me. I came up with these edits. Thanks for the suggestions and what do you all think? #10543043

ok beth lots of work thanks for all of them. your edit three is my favorite out of all the new ones. but I still like your original post out of the shadows the best. I think I would go back to the original and edit out his tags. I really like the mystery of the shot. your newer one don't have the mystery that the original one does. #10545871

Great concept and you did a lot of work to get to the final shot which I think looks great. It portrays what you were going for in this process by far the best of all the series. Nicely done. #10551246

oh beth your last post is great! I really like what you have done and that it really kept the feel of the original post. I second the "nicely done" #10551645

Beth, I love to see anyone trying something different and have enjoyed your progress to improve what was a good idea to begin with. Yes, your last post is best. You can't learn layers until you play, play and play some more with them. He is such a great-looking dog. Looks like he fancies himself as a model!! #10552652

Beth Spencer February 04, 2013

Thank you, Mike, Rita and Debbie!! It was a fun process and I really did learn a lot.
Debbie this is my Dazzle!! She is a really big baby and a bigger lap dog at 110 pounds thanks to Rocky. She is now on a diet!! She is usually with me whenever I go out and about in the woods and is such a joy just to watch!! #10552954

I have no real valid excuses for taking so long to respond to many of you folks' images, just haven't been in the mood. So, sorry Beth I'm with Rita and think the original has that air of mystery that she mentioned. And like Rita and Debbie, I vote for the last image as second-best too. #10553917
