This is for Dale's Challenge, I used bleach by pass and detil extractor filters in Color Effex Po. Here is also one of the top of the mission. #1474870

Nice off-center placement, Beth. I like the color tones overall, but on my laptop the colors seem muddy. There are a couple of spotlights showing along the lower right margin that are a distraction and could be cloned out. #10229774

Thanks, this was taken in San Francisco when I was visiting my sister. The top of this picture was really red, I think from the light through all the stained glass windows.
I tried to adjust the color not sure if it is better, I put the filters on it to give it an older look, hence all the grain. #10231641

It might be the filter itself that seems to not quite work for me, Beth. The colors in both versions, tho' quite different, are very pleasing.

The cloning helped quite a bit. #10231974

Wow...very low light you were working with in this image. My take on the colors are that I would blend your first post and the second one so that the top of the image was from the second post (except the stained glass window). You would have to blend it well to make it look right by using a large soft eraser or brush if you are using a layer mask. :~) #10233220

I agree that the colors you captured in the original are much better. The contrast is also much better. Filters are fun and oftentimes necessary but it takes time and practice to determine what a certain image needs or doesn't need. playing around is a good thing and yes, sometimes starting all over is what is needed. Great find of a building. Thanks for telling us where it I and what the name of the church was. I am so sorry not to see you nd your husband in DC. Am anxious to find out where and when will be the next meet-up. #10233663
