Description

You'll have to look close to understand the title. Look and you shall soon see the method to my madness! Yes, Kerry, the entire shoot was done with the tripod - for an entire hour while all the other guests at Grand Timber Lodge were still asleep. Too bad I didn't have a zoom with me because the foxes were out and about. Again, I've added a few other examples of the wonderful subjects I had at my disposal that morning. Diffuser came in handy with several hot spots.

Exif: F Number: 4, Exposure Bias Value: -1.00, ExposureTime: 1/400 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 100, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 100.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 30D

Thanks, Michael, Teresa and Usman -- Aphids are kind of yucky really, but they served their purpose in this image. Glad I see the flower first and then the beasties, and not the other way around. #8837051

Dale Hardin August 16, 2010

Looks like you really enjoyed yourself taking these Debbie. Congratulations. #8839768

Thank you Dale. These two lupine shots I am particularly fond of because they were about the first thing I shot after I fell and broke the shoulder. I probably forced myself to use the tripod because I really couldn't hold the weight of the camera very long back early June. Still can't use my huge 70-200 2.8 zoom. #8840925

This one is something special....not something most would photograph. They would look for one without the bugs or remove any they had in photoshop. I think it's beautiful! Congrats on your finalist! :~) Do tell is the 70-200 2.8 worth the money if you have say a 105mm fixed 2.8? #8849537

Jeff E Jensen August 20, 2010

Aimee - I recently picked up the 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens. It is probably my most used piece of glass. I'm not sure how I lived without it. #8850309

Aimee C. Eisaman August 20, 2010

Thanks Jeff...I sure need to figure out how to get the money for it though....only have $30 in change....at this pace I'll get it in 6-9 years! LOL I'm wondering if I should get a used one at about half the price....I've bought a used lens off ebay before and it worked out well, but that's a lot of money to gamble with. I looked into the Sigma version that is less than half the price of a new Nikon, but there are certain things about it I don't like such as the fact it doesn't seal well to the camera body. #8851082

Jeff E Jensen August 20, 2010

I bought mine used Aimee. I would be careful about where you purchase used equipment. You may pay a little more to buy used equipment from a reputable dealer, but you would then have somewhere to turn if you ever needed to. #8851185

Aimee C. Eisaman August 20, 2010

I guess I'll have plenty of time to do my research so thanks Jeff! :~) #8851287

Debbie E. Payne August 20, 2010

Aimee --I think it would be worth the weight!! Pun intended. Last time I tried I still couldn't handle it properly because of my broken arm. May try it this weekend and see if I can do any better after some strength training. "And what do you do for PT?" "Oh, I lift my 70-200L lens up and down". #8851387

Dale Hardin August 20, 2010

Congratulations on the finalist Debbie. Well done! #8851837

Aimee C. Eisaman August 20, 2010

LOL I'm sure that would count for PT....it's a heavy lens even though I only held it attached to some larger Canon camera bodies. #8851922
