Yeah, we are having a major drought. But I don't think the river bed is dry because of that since farther up the canyon the river is full. I think they divert it somewhere. I like my camera mostly because it is a 10x zoom and the fact that it is digital, so I can learn quickly as I go. But I think my f-stop only goes up to 8. Also, some things in the automatic modes I can't do in the programming modes and vice-versa. #14681

I have the same camera and have been fighting with it a bit... I just found a site that sells a book & CD called A short course in Olympus C-700 Ultra Zoom - that actually tells you what all the settings are and how to change them.... Much better then the manual, now, hopefully I will get the shots I intend to take and not the ones that camera takes... (the automatic settings are a pain, and I've stopped using them)! #14687
