Cranberry Harvest
Uploaded: October 16, 2008 02:22:19
What could be more Cape Cod than cranberries? You would have thought we struck gold when we came across these harvesters. They totally ignored us as we hung around shooting for a few minutes. I didn't notice until I pulled this up on my computer that there is a mailbox behind the guy on the machine. Perhaps he planned on being out there for awhile?

The cranberry harvest is so brilliantly colorful, Deb, and so very New England (unless you happen to be in the New Jersey Pine Barrens). Beautifully captured, and I love the effects. #6607130Deb Koskovich October 16, 2008

What a totally cool thing to watch and experience, Deb. And I also thought of those two guys on the commericals. Linda is right maybe it's for their fan mail. Awesome capture with outstanding light, details and color. Looks like you had a wonderful time on the Cape. #6609532John Connolly October 16, 2008
A wonderful colorful capture, Deb! I don't even know if we have a cranberry patch in Australia! #6610159Deb Koskovich October 16, 2008
Well, now that made me curious, John, so I googled it. Here is what I found on an Ocean Spray web page that explained how the harvest is done:Unfortunately, the climate in Australia and New Zealand has not proven suitable for growing cranberries successfully in commercial quantities. So, to enjoy the spectacular sight of a cranberry harvest first-hand, and partake in the events of a cranberry festival, you will have to visit the cranberry growing regions in the United States during late September / early October - Cranberry time! #6610178
