Photography Question

Kathleen R. Struckle

Where to obtain Freelance Photographer license

I would like to know where and how you would go about getting a license for freelance photography. A friend of my got one years ago for no fee,but does not remember where she got it. Sometimes when your out shooting and you ask a person to use their property or have a person sign a release it might be helpful to have some type of photography I.D. to show them. Can anyone answer this question for me Thank you. Kathleen Struckle theholyghostwoman@msn.com

Hmm... I think what you are talking about is a press pass. Basically, an ID which notes you as a photographer/journalist representing a particalar agency or group. (You can be your own, but the details differ from event to event.)

The thing is that depending on where you live, there is no such thing. :) You can join a photographer's organization and have an ID issued by them, but that is not a license. You can have a press pass, but that isn't one either. You can have a business license and be stated as a photographer by trade. That might be more of what you are looking for.

My advice would be to check with your local city and state government agencies to see if such a thing exists.

I was thinking business license too, some cities my issue a photo id as part of their business license, something to check into.
