Yes, I agree, Joanne. I think so many members have gotten so discouraged not only with the lack of completion of the “new and improved” website, but also with the lack of info coming from Jim. I’m bout there myself.

I agree completely this is not what I agreed to or should I say it’s not what I agreed to pay for!! No email since the website upgrade and either no response to questions or just broken promises. Trying to get answers with the Facebook group is a joke!! I think I have had enough.

Maybe one of those cases where they should have left well enough alone. Outside of the better upload speed, which is great, not much in the way of improvement, and a lot of what used to be, isn't. I'm sure they are doing the best they can and sooner or later it will come around. In the meantime, I am carrying on as usual and hoping for the best. Still no notifications of Finalists or Wins.. But I know where to find them.

I don't know if Jim is still working on the details on further improving of several topics such as Editor's pick, mini-pic selector, e-mails, etc. etc. but in my view the efforts being made are insufficient in order to keep the high quality that it once had.

I too miss the old BP. The contest was absolutely the best anywhere on the web. When I first joined BP there were thousands and thousands of entries in the contest each month and the competition was fierce! I still remember jumping for joy when I would get an EP! The photographers I watched not only showed me creativity that I had no idea existed before but they also helped me with learning the technical side of photography. It took me awhile but I went from shooting in auto mode to manual mode 100% of the time and what a world that opened up! I was lucky enough to win the contest awhile back and it's all because of the photographers here on BP. The people here were always so helpful and so extremely talented. I love BP and always will because of that. While it breaks my heart to know people are discouraged, I hope each and everyone of you will hang on awhile longer. I hope to see BP get bigger and better than ever and it can't be done without you extremely talented photographers. You are simply the best of the best.

I’m with you 100%, Dayna. For many years I have loved seeing all the inspiring images by the very talented photographers on the site, and I feel my skills have grown because of this site. I too remember how excited I got to get an editor’s pick. I’m still hanging on and hoping Jim will get things functioning again, but I still can’t help feeling discouraged

I echo Dayna's sentiment. I've been trying to remain supportive of BetterPhoto and keep a positive thought, but it's getting harder and harder each time I open this community thread and see the litany of issues that remain unaddressed, months and months ... and months later. The photo pages are being spammed like crazy. I've reported at least 25 in the last couple of days. Insane! The same holds with the FaceBook page. Nobody is happy. The same topics continue to heat up almost cyclically. Everyone is discouraged and not even the contest feels fun anymore. I've been around since 2007. Things used to be competitive, people actually commented/conversed on the photos they liked. I admit it, I too used to swell with pride at an EP badge, but enough of all that... I suppose I stick around for the camaraderie and the virtual photo-kinship of you all and I guess that has to be enough since the only alternative is to move on.

I have to admit that I'm discouraged about BP, as well. Because I don't get emails about comments, staff favorites, finalists, or winners, I often just forget about BP. I think the worst part, though, is the lack of communication. Where are you, Jim?

I agree with all that has been said. I haven’t entered many photos over the past year because it was a bit discouraging. The EP and the comments from the photographers not only helped my photography get better (I think) but encouraged me to take more and begin to find my style. When those things stopped I assumed there was something wrong with my photography. I have taken many of my older photos off the site. I miss BP.

I thought I wasn't getting email alerts from BP for a while, until I noticed that they were going to my Spam folder. This could have been happening since they are coming as "BetterPhoto via betterphoto.fun" since the site migration. Once I found the missing emails in Spam, I was able to update my filter to have them land in the same folder that I was using before.
