Harvey, have you considered an iPhone instead of a traditional compact? The quality seems to be amazing on the new models, especially those with dual wide and telephoto lenses.

I can say that I do *not* recommend any Canon Powershot. I had an SD790 which I liked a lot, and later "upgraded" to the S110 for its wide angle and wide (f/2) aperture. The quality was great, but it lasted just past the warranty period, at which point the shutter stopped working. Although it was a known issue with the model, Canon refused to even give me the option to pay to have it repaired. The most they would give me is a somewhat reduced price on a refurbished model. So now it's a paperweight.

  Good Day Martha,

Thank You Very Much For Taking the time & interest to respond to my question!!

I had an I phone with my job, (retired now) & it was good for many things !
I am however looking for something with at least a moderate zoom, 200-250 mm?

I use a Nikon D7100 for most applications. & I am still learning how to use it fully.. I do like it, & quality so far..
2 years...
I also like the added feature of a time lapse video, & upclose details offered by LUMIX, & Sony 1 inch Sensor models...

I will try my daughters I phone next time we are together,
& see if I can get what I want with that..
Thank You for All Your Kind Support, & Help!

Best Regards,
Harvey

Harvey, I had a Cannon like Martha and also like Martha's mine stopped zooming shortly after warranty was over. My daughter takes many photos with he iphone and gets terrific results and there is even an attachment for it to add different lenses, but the draw back is the megapixels if you want print a large photo. Also pcmag.com has a review of what they consider the top ten point and shoots.

  Thank You So Much, John!

I will definitely use my daughters I phone, next time we are
together... (She lives, 3000 miles away in Santa Monica...)

I would be So Angry if my recently purchased camera Died a Few Days After The Warranty Ran Out !! #@$!!

I have Some Unusual opinions re people’s behavior,& being so compelled to use their phone 12 hours a day!

I currently, Purposely use an older phone with trac phone Service... by the minute!

I do this Because I used to receive as many as 100+ email calls Per Day, ( at All times , Day & Night...) at work..

I was in the precious metals business... & had people responding to every event in the world with Fear & Caution, & Worry..

I am on record telling my kids, to put the phone Down for a few hours a day & see life around them, more!...

Before retiring , I had 2 strokes from stress, (& now do everything possible to not go near any stressful circumstances) ..I hopefully, learned my lesson!

John, I greatly Enjoy Your Many talents, & Memorable images!

So Many BP neighbors , ( Martha, included) set a higher standard than I am currently capable of... BUT

I Love trying to see more, & create different, worthwhile captures..

Thank You For Your response, & All Your Kindness..

Best Regards,
Harvey
