Photography Question

package pricing

For those of you who have offered photo packages, do you have a way you determine the package and the price? I assume these are less that if the client bought the photos separately, but how much less?

I have been asked to do photos for a dance studio. I'd like to offer packages they can pre-order, but am not sure how to price them. Any advice would be appreciated!

  Assuming you already have prices figured for your individual prints there are many ways to do this. Personally I just put together a certain number of photos (i.e. (2)5x7, (2)8x10, (1) 11x14, etc.), then figure out what the price would be for all of them together then subtract like 10-15%. That is if you are just doing prints. I have packages that includes my sitting fee but I don't take any money off my sitting fee so I just add the sitting fee directly to the end result after the percentage is taken off. One other thing to think about is if you are doing package pricing I would make sure you get a deposit like at least half up front and the rest upon delivery. That is just my thought on the question.

  Thank you, Travis (Clayton?). I do have normal prices and I don't normally offer packages, but for the dance studio I would like to do this. I am looking for a general #...like you said 10-15% off. I saw another person do roughly 20% on one package, 15% on another, 13% on another and so forth. So is this just more personal preference?

  I think it is a personal preference. It all depends on how much you originally marked up your prices from print and how much you can stand to come down without losing too much. I have 3 different pacakges. My smallest package I took 10% off, the middle package I took 14% off and my largest package I think I took somewhere in the neighborhood of 18% off
