Hi John, You need to size the jpegs to 750KB on the long side & 500KB on the short side. Having too large of an image is the only problem I have had with BP uploads. Hope this helps, Carlton

I never resize my images. The system can upload files of photos with 10 Megapixels and probably also more, but it takes time. Maybe you have a slow Internet connection? Sometimes the system is also closed for maintenance, so try again later.

How can I get the best quality upload? How do I size for best quality of color & sharpness? Also, whether using the default uploader (drag and drop) or the alternate Single Image Uploader, try sizing your photo to 480 pixels on the short size (rather than the "traditional" BP standard of 500). BP photographers often add just a tiny bit more color saturation and sharpening than they would normally do for printing - to offset the ever-so-slight softening of color and sharpness that occurs on upload. Again, not too much, since you don't want things to look unnatural or pixelated.

Carlton, BP changed their size restriction to 800 pixels on the max now.. I always resize before I upload to BP..to the 800 max and then convert to TIF, and sharpen a tad. I've uploaded full-res shots, and BP will crunch them down to 800, but some have been fuzzier because of their compression scheme..that's another reaon I resize before upload.

Hi Ken, Thats weird - I just copied my last post from the BP help site this morning. I didn't know they changed it to 800. Is the 800 for the long or short side ? I started resizing because some of my larger images were getting a little blurred with the compression as well. I have a seperate folder just for my resized images for uploading to the BP site. Thanks for the update, Carlton

I just re-read my 1st response I stated that the images needed to be resized to 750KB ??? I must have lost my brain cell again, I meant 750 pixels... Mine are usually sized between 300-400KB. Now where did that brain cell disappear to ? Cheers, Carlton

Carlton, I'm pretty certain the 800 pixels can be either vertical or horizontal..or square. It's easy to experiment by uploading differnet sized photos on BP then comparing them in differnet browsers. For example, save one as 2000 pixels, 800 pixels, and 750..and you'll note that the 2000 and 800 will be identical in size (800), and the 750 slightly smaller.
