First, make sure that the loss of auto functions is worth it to you. You will lose auto focus, auto aperture, and this will mess with the camera functions. I believe that you will be able to shoot in only manual or aperture priority. Manual focus is the only way to focus the camera. Most lenses that you will be looking at for a manual focus camera will also be available for your Maxxum under names like Minolta, Konica Minolta, and Sony. Along with the many aftermarket companies such as Tamron, you should have no problem finding the lenses you need for your Maxxum.
