Printing Digital Pictures from HP Inkjet

I have a Canon Power Shot A70 camera and I downloaded pictures to my hard drive. When I print borderless 4X6 on my HP Photosmart Printer, the picture on my computer is not what prints out. The top and bottom is cut off on the printed photo. Even when I insert the CF card in the printer, the picture I see on LCD screen is NOT what prints out. Part of the image is cut off. What do I do? It is frustrating.

Sal, what is happening to the image between the camera and the printer? Are you going through an imaging program? It could be that the picture is not proportional to 4 x 6, and/or that it has not been sized to a 4 x 6 in the image size function of the software. We can give you general guidance here, and, if you have a Photoshop-based imaging software like Elements, we can be very specific about how to do this.

This happens to me also because the aspect ratio of my digital file is not 4x6. (Your camera manual should tell your what size your photos are, and you can determine the correct ratio in inches from that.) For my camera and priinter, if I print at 3.5x5 it comes out closer to the correct proportions, or if I send it out for printing, I request that it not be cropped (this leaves white borders on 2 sides which I trim off when I get them). Alternatively, you can train yourself to leave some edge room at the top and bottom of your subject so that when it is printed at 4x6, you won't loose anything that you care about.
