Photography Question

Lapses between exposures

When I make an exposure based on Raw + L
on my Canon DSLR EOS Digital XT, the CF light on the body lights up for about 3 seconds. If I set the quality to Raw only, it lights up for about 2 seconds.
And quality @ L, the CF light lasts about one second.
Is this normal? Can I continue to shoot before the CF light stops blinking?
It does not change when I use a 512MB card or a 1G card.

Yes, this is totally normal. When the camera is set to RAW + L the camera is writing roughly 11MB of data to the card. With just RAW: Approx 8 MB and just JPEG Large 3.3 MB. The Rebel XT is able to shoot at 3 frames per second. Yes, you can continue to shoot while the CF light is on. You should be able to shoot up 14 continuous shots with the Rebel XT before you would have to wait for it to write if shooting at JPEG Large mode and less with RAW, and RAW + JPEG.

Hope this helps...

There is a number in the bottom right of the viewfinder that counts down to indicate how many more images can fit in the buffer before it is full. If it gets full, you will have to wait before you can resume shooting.
