Film Speed

I just purchased a Sigma SA-7 and it does not have a setting for 800 speed film, it goes from 500 to 1000. I have a lot of 800 speed film that I would like to use up. Can I use it and at what setting? Will it affect the pictures that much?

If you have manual settings, you can figure out the exposure for 1000 with the cameras meter. Then set it on manual and make the settings 1/3-stop over. (slightly slower shutter speed or slightly bigger aperture). Or if you can't set in 1/3 use 1/2.
Or if you have exposure compensation use that. But if you have neither, shooting at 1000 can still give you decent prints.
