scanning prints When I took my film in today for processing I was asked what dpi I wanted the images scanned at. I had no idea. I need them to upload for a class I'm taking but also would like the option for enlargements. Is there a best option? thanks! Sue

The question to ask is are they scanning off the film? If they scan at 2400 ppi (pixels per inch), you will get an 8 x 12 at 300 ppi, more than enough to get a beautiful 8 x 10 from an inkjet printer, or even from a professional dye sub printer. If they can't go that high, 1600 ppi will give you an excellent 6 x 4 and an acceptable 5 x 7. This figure, though, assumes a resolution of 240 ppi going into a decent home inkjet printer.

Thanks Doug. I am very limited on professional shops in the small town I live in. This shop has done some nice devoping for me before but recently started scanning in the pictures. I will see how they come out.
