Differences in Minolta Maxxum Models

What are the differences between Minolta Maxxum 5 and Minolta QTsi? Why is the Maxxum 5 considerably more in cost? Is it worth it, especially for a beginning photographer?

  Hi Jamie,

There are a lot of differences between the QTsi and the Maxxum 5. The most considerable difference is with the QTsi, the only thing that you can control manually is focusing the lens. With the Maxxum 5, you can manually control your shutter speed, the ISO (film speed), and the aperature. If you want a camera you can grow with, then I suggest you spent the extra money and buy the Maxxum 5. My saying is that the QTsi is a oversized point and shoot that gives you the SLR quality without being able to have any control manually besides focusing.

  Hi,
I have had the Minolta Maxxum 7000, moved onto the 5 and currently have the Maxxum/Dynax 9 (THAT I AM IN LOVE WITH!). I must say as a Minolta user for years, the functions get greater giving you better range but I am still known to pull out that old 7000 from time to time. The pictures are still great.

Best of luck, Tonya

  Hi Jamie!
I agree with Tonya and Veronica! The maxxum 5 is a better camera to have, it allows for more control over what you want to do.
I started with the maxxum 3 and within 6 months I bought the maxxum 5, which I now have with me all the time.
Check out my gallery and see some beautiful results!!

the qtsi,my first camera.beginners usually jump in because of price. bad mistake. I did ! figure out what your goals are , and then check out minoltas web site. a used xtsi on ebay can be had for the price of a new qtsi at most stores, and it's a great camera ! like they say , the qtsi is a sophisticated point and shoot !read all you can
