Photos on discs?

Ok i'm on a really tight budget and trying to get my portfolio done as soon as possible and I have a lot of ideas I would like to try for my portfolio but.. not sure how they would come out I love getting my prints I like to be able to see full size or close up how they look but that can get pretty expensive I have been getting my pics. done at wal-mart I know that might not be the best place but it's the only place for my budget is the quality on the disc good enough ? or should I get a disc from somewhere else I would like to be able to have my pics. on a computer so I can edit them myself instead of paying someone else to do it from the negatives but I can't afford a good scanner someone please help!?

I have had very good luck with scanners on the Lexmark all in one printers. Some models sell for less than 100 bucks. The one I currently use cost 139, and has a built in fax. It's a Lexmark 7350. I'm very happy with my results with this unit.
