school report hi ,i'm cindy, i'm 14 years old and I have a big report due in school.my carrer teacher told us to pic what we want to do when we grow up and I decided to be a photographer. I need to know :>>> 1.HOW MUCH COLLEDGE I NEED. 2.WHAT DEGREE'S I NEED 3.WHAT KIND OF EXPERIANCE 4.HOW MUCH PAY 5.WHAT DOES IT START AS AND WHAT DOES IT END 6.WHAT PERCENT 7.WHAT DO YOU DO 8.WHAT WOULD CHANGE IF IT WAS PART TIME /FULL TIME JOB? PLZ GET BACK TO ME THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME

1.Do you have to have college? Honestly you don't have to have it, because technically you can get work as a photographer by having a good portfolio, and the right oppurtunity. And it's not unusual for somebody to be a photographer, but to have gone to college for something totally different. But college can help. If you go to college for the photographic field, you can get internships that would not be available to you if you didn't. And having an internship can make it easier to get a position with a newspaper, magazine, things like that. Especially newspapers because it can allow you to skip over having to work for small town papers, and get started with a bigger paper. Nowadays many of the big papers have different sections, or they put out smaller editions that focus on the suburbs in the area. Such as the Dallas Morning News. They have offices in the surounding suburbs, and you would start off their instead of starting in the downtown office. But you would usually make more money, and be able to advance than if you worked for a paper that was for that particular small town. 2.Universities have photography in the art department, and the have photography in the journalism department usually. Some schools like New York Institute of Art and Design (I think that's what it's called) are geared more specically for art. But a degree in either one wouldn't prevent you from persuing a career in either direction. 3.Experience, newspapers want you to work for small papers first. They almost never hire directly to their main office staff. Or you'll have to freelance for them for a while. 4.Pay depends on who you work for, and what you do. Newspapers are at the lower end. Fashion and commercial are at the high end. And those are assignments for large corporations shooting ads and promotional stuff. 5. I don't know what you mean by what does it start and end. So can't answer that one. 6. Also don't know what you mean by what percent. 7.I shoot for one of those small town papers. So for the time being I'm seeing what I can do with having a website. Selling pictures and stuff. 8. Full time would mean more money of course. More things to shoot. If you worked part time for a newspaper, you'd probably get only simple, boring assignments. And it would mostly be on weekends, when the full time staff dosen't want to work.

Hi this is Cindy again.I'm 15 now.. I just have to thank this website and gregory l. for helping me with my questions.I got a good score on my project that's for sure,I now have a phtography class in high school in which i'm doing good in and I know some people who are planning on helping me out with a carrer on photography once I graduate high school.Thank you Gregory.
