Model Releases

I could not really find the answer to this question in the posts already in the forum on the subject of model releases.

Are model release forms or some other type of release form / permission form required by non-profit organizations such as churches for images of people attending functions or meetings of the organization if the organization would like to place the images on their website, in local newspaper notices or on house bullentin boards?

Yes. Web use is publishing and insofar as I know, there's never been an exception to to the release rules (pertaining to privacy) based upon non-profit or tax exempt status.

To be on the safe side, either get the releases or check with a lawyer in your area who specializes in state privacy rules or intellectual property.
