Slik, Manfrotto, Bogen are brand name options. Look at adorama.com or B&Hphoto.com
Look for minimum height and maximum height measurements, as well as the maximum weight the can hold. The more weight it can support, the sturdier it should be, but the heavier it will be.
And look for options like a quick release plate or a reversible center post that you may find a use for. A bubble level is good to have for easy to get things level.

Pradeep, while the brands Gregory mention are fine (actually, Manfrotto and Bogen are the same thing - Manfrotto just used Bogen as their marketing name in North America until a few years ago) you could also check out Gitzo (now also owned by Manfrotto, but manufactured differently). But another tripod to investigate could be a wooden tripod - Berlebach, for example.

Wood is better at attenuating vibration than metal or carbon fiber, and is pretty much weatherproof. If you have the chance to check some of these out in a store it would be best.

Also, consider the type of head you will want: 3-way pan or ball head. There are good and lousy examples of each, but they have different ways of working so one might be more comfortable than the other.

Finally, consider a quick-release system. This is where you have a plate on the camera (or lens foot) and a clamp on the tripod - making placing or removing the camera a far quicker operation. Just to understand the concept, at least, you can check out www.reallyrightstuff.com - they make excellent (and pricey) gear for this.
