Producing better prints from digital cameras

I need advice on what settings I need to set my 2.1 megapixel camera to produce quality 8 X 10 prints. Is there anything I can do in PhotoShop 6.0 to help produce even better prints?

I'm just getting into all this digital stuff myself but I do know that you want to do as much at the moment of capture as you can to produce a good image rather than applying all sorts of things in Photoshop. Everything you do to an image in Photoshop degrades the image a little more.

Set your camera at the highest possible quality setting. You may need bigger cards to hold these images.
Jeff's dead-on about manipulation after the shot. You can raise the resolution in Photoshop, but upsampling never results in a better image. From 2.1 megapixels, you'll get great 5 x 7's, but your 8 x 10's may not be as good.

I have heard that newer Epsons and HP printers can raise your resolution if it's insufficient for the print size you want, but it's still pulling pixels outta nowhere to make up for what was not there in the first place.
If best 8 x 10 quality is a must, get a 3 megapixel camera.
