WOW look at those trees they are beautiful. I really like how you captured the bicycler in focus. this is a great shot, Stephen

Nice catch Stephen. This is one shot where I would have liked to have seen a greater DOF.

Dale, aperture is a factor in the DOF on this image, but this was a quick catch with active panning. I just happened to turn around for a moment and caught this cyclist.

Shutter speed was wrong for panning and showing background in motion because I was actually photographing the opposite direction trying to catch a couple of deer in a good pose at the base of the hillside of even better, backlit trees.

Glad you like it Rita.

Thanks Stephen. Don't have much creative controls of those "snap" shots. You did a great jot though.

What I particularly like about this image is that we have a band of silver, another one of gold and they neatly sandwich the stronger saturation of the fir trees and the vivid color of the cyclist. Excellent!

I love how you caught the rider in the dark space between trees the gold leaves. Your pan worked well on the bike rider as he is very sharp and the blur of the BG gives some nice seperation.

Peter -- glad you like the strong contrast. I try these Aspen/Pine combinations frequently but seldom get very positive response to them. I think, as you said, the dark fits into to the composition a lot better than usual.

Thanks, Jeff. Not the best example of either motion or DOF, but quite satisfactory for what it is. And it gave me something a little different, to contribute this time.

I really like the contrast of the colors between the yellow and the green and tan

Before I read the comments-I figured that you panned this one-and I have to say, you did a GREAT job. This is so hard to do and keep your subject clear! I would be happy with it-you didn't have time to change the settings and despite that, you have a pretty nice picture!
