I haven't bought the WOW book yet because I noticed there is a new edition due out in May, so I wanted to wait for that. Instead, I experimented with the brushes that come with Photoshop. For this picture, I used the Drippy Watercolor brush, making it larger around the outside and shrinking it for the detail in the middle. Interestingly, in each case of using a brush the end results were rather different than the name of the brush would apply. In this case, it looks more like an oil painting to me than a watercolor (possibly even an oil with a pallette knife). Whatever it is, I do like the effect and I think it looks like a reasonale painting.
