This is an overwintering queen of the Eastern Yellowjacket. F32, 1/200s, ISO200, Ringflash, plus a extension tube (36mm Kenko) in between the camera and my 60mm Nikkor macro lens. This image is a focus stack of 3 frames. I adjusted exposure, contrast, color and reduced noise application. Cropped. Taken in Raleigh, NC USA on March 27, 2010

Amazing macro with great details and wonderful color and light.Every once in a while, I stump on a photo which takes me to its gallery owner. And I cherish watching the many wonderful shots. Thank you Usman! I have recently started photographing insects "with determination" I have been doing it for less than 1 year. I had to save the money to buy the equipment. Just this week I got the Nikon R1 macro flash kit. That should help improve my macro shots.
