Debby,

I love this photo. I am just starting to do studio portraits. May I ask how do you set up your lights?

Thanks Debby

MaryAnn,
Thank You for your wonderful comment.
I have looked at your gallery and you are Very talenlted. As you move in to portraits is will be different-So many schools and collages don't teach Posing anymore-A friend of mine at UC San Diego, calls it a "lost art" she was thrilled when I wrote the books on it.Do start to study posing it will make you a cut above the rest in your area. Now back to your question: When teaching the basics of posing and studio work, I tell people to picture a clock- backlight and subject are at the 12:00 position- the camera at the 6:00 , now depending what is comfortable for you( I am right handed)
I carry my remote in my left hand( you may want to look into the wireless remote they have for the D70( ML-L3 on ebay $14-$19, i'll send you a link if you need) the main light is about at the 3:00-4:00 and about a foot higher then the subjects head and the fill is at the 7:00 hour and typicly at the subject's eye level( unless they are waring glasses then it should be a little higher)
I do hope this helps there is more about lighting your subject with graphs in my childrens cd,
