Description

I mentally calculated how long it took for the fireballs to go full circle and set the shutter speed that way. From experience with the Nikon D2X I knew the correct exposure would be at minus 1 1/3 exposure below the meter reading. I had the lens apperture wide open and adjusted the ISO speed till I got the correct minus 1 1/3 on the meter. As for color balance I set it up to 3200 Kelving and framed them, squeezed the release button slowly and this is it.

Notes: I shot it hand held from one row from the last one, on the bleachers at the Polynesian Cultural Center. A very long Shot in low light, hand held, I made it possible by using a tried and true technique of resting the lens on my left elbow and my left hand over my right shoulder. Right hand pulling the camera up against my forehead.... squeezing the trigger, sniper style.
