Beautiful photo of your little kitty and waht beautiful eyes. #1218986

Joan E. Hoffman December 23, 2009

Thank you so much Ken! Our 20 year old Siamese was supposed to be our last cat, however someone abandoned this little one at our campground, how could anyone resist those eyes!

Love your gallery btw! It is wonderful! #8242244

Debra P. Chenault December 23, 2009

She sure does! What a beauty! #8242384

Joan E. Hoffman December 23, 2009

Debra... thank you... looks like Josie could be your Diva's lil sister! Lovely gallery! We are northerns too... lived 5 years in Yellowknife, hometown Grande Prairie AB... close to Mile 0 of the Alcan highway #8242502

Anthony L. Mancuso December 23, 2009

Beautiful for sure Joan, such a unique color...it does look like you have some motion blur going on, what were your settings? You could try a selective high pass on just the eyes to sharpen them up a bit.. #8242827

Joan E. Hoffman December 23, 2009

Hey Tony... just a case of the wrong lens at the wrong time... had my 105 MM macro on at the time... did do a high pass sharpen, then did a gaussian blur on the rest to heighten the focus on the eyes... also... did not use the tripod as it was a "moment"! Still... I love it! #8242859

Anthony L. Mancuso December 23, 2009

With good reason..it is an excellent feline portrait...i was just being nit-picky :-) #8242992

Jeff E Jensen December 23, 2009

Hey Joan - I'm not a cat lover, but this is a great capture.

By the way, I have a cousin that lives in Grand Prairie. I'm willing to bet you aren't missing the weather they have been having. #8243095

Joan E. Hoffman December 24, 2009

WOW Jeff... what a small world!! And NO I am definitely not missing the minus 40's with wind chills down into the minus 50's!! I am currently complaining about the "cold" weather in AZ at the moment and wishing I was in deep south TX! Mind you I don't miss the Gulf winds! LOL #8243555

Jeff E Jensen December 24, 2009

Yup, it is a small world. I am actually originally from Calgary. I've got family all over southern Alberta: Wardlow, Glenwood, Hillspring, Cardston, Raymond, Del Bonita, Calgary, Red Deer, Pincher Creek. #8243668

Joan E. Hoffman December 24, 2009

I love Calgary, lived there for 16 years. My son lives there now. Sure has grown tho! #8244066

Dale Hardin December 24, 2009

Joan, I like your close up on this capture, but I think the comp could be improved by cropping about 50% off the top above his eyes. #8244205

Teresa H. Hunt December 24, 2009

Joan, great portrait of your cat. I'm not an animal person at all . . . . but this photo is lovely. To bad you had the wrong lens. I hate it when that happens. :) #8244370

Rita K. Connell level-classic December 24, 2009

such beautiful eyes, I think this is one worth trying again. Jim and I visted Calgary we loved it there. our favorite place to eat was Earl's we loved their choc mousse. #8244441

Michael Kelly level-deluxe December 24, 2009

I love it when shots like this fill the frame. I too think it is worth another try. Beautiful kitty and as I say your POV and tight shot are wonderful. It is just the motion blur that keeps the shot from being perfection. #8244934

Joan E. Hoffman December 25, 2009

Thank you Dale, I will reshoot, and use your crop suggestion! Teresa, no matter where I am and what I'm shooting, it always seems that I have the wrong lens for the job. (and I hate changing lenses outside, because of dust etc). My macro occassionally gets "stuck" on my camera because I just love the lens LOL!

Rita, Earl's was one of my fav places to eat when I lived in Calgary... but the original Earl's which was more of a burger place. I never enjoyed it as much when they went "upscale"!

Thanks Mike! Probably because she's my little princess (opposed to Teagan who is my little queen) I just get immersed in the EYES, I atually don't even notice the blur when I look at this.... HOWEVER, re-shoot I will!

Merry Christmas Morning to ALL of you! Hope the "tree" holds some wonderful photo gear for everyone!! #8245592

Michael Kelly level-deluxe December 25, 2009

Joan the eyes are wonderful! I just have a thing about sharp shots kind of like Dale has a thing about strait shots so always feel free to ignore. Of course the problem is you can fix a crooked shot in PS but if it is not in focus or there is motion blur your very stuck.

I frequently change lenses outside and don't have a lot of dust problems, though I am very careful and quick when I do it. One thing to remember is always turn your camera off before changing lenses in any circumstances as a powered sensor attracts dust like an electro magnet attracts iron.

Merry Christmas morning to you too. No camera gear but I got a GPS navigation system for the car. Off to get ready for the relatives now. Have a great day! #8246016

Joan E. Hoffman December 25, 2009

Dang... our GPS just broke... only a bit more than a year old... and all of a sudden won't turn on. Because we travel so much... a huge loss. Not so much from going to Alberta on down... but for finding places in towns like Phoenix, Dallas, Salt lake ETC! Guess time to spend some more bucks ugh!

Hope you have good luck with yours Michael... they are a REAL treat... so handy for SO many things!! #8246249

Dale Hardin December 25, 2009

Joan, we thought our GPS had broken also on a recent trip and I bought a new one, only to find out later that the old one had a reset button. Pushed it and all worked OK again. Check your manual. #8246438

Ellen H. Robertson level-classic December 26, 2009

Joan, love those eyes!! Would like to see Dales crop suggestion. Re-shoot, yes because I would love to see more of this beautiful one. #8247555

Debbie E. Payne December 27, 2009

Joan, I think the intent of this image and the expression you captured more than outweighs the slight blur. If you are really concerned about it you could try a paint filter or you might be able to revive this in an entirely different way with one of Dales' black and white pencil instructions. #8249932

Aimee C. Eisaman December 28, 2009

The rich colors here are lovely. Everyone has already pointed out the obvious so I'll just say that I love the colors and the light! A very nice portrait! :~) I do hope you get more shots of her....maybe she will pose in a pot??? LOL Remember that? #8251835

Joan E. Hoffman December 28, 2009

ROLF Aimee... of course I do, and have been considering a kitty stew! I may not get as wounded putting Josie in a pot as I would with the queen Teagan, however after using the crazy glue I might not get her back out again!!!!!

BTW.. GPS is fixed... just had a seniors moment I guess (it not me... plugged it into the computer and came back to life). Thank you Ellen.. you will see a lot of this one I think, more so than Teagan who is always asleep ( at twenty acceptable). Debbie, I did consider that and probably will do something like that. I am rather blind, and only have driving glasses.. I miss a few things because I guess... I dismissed the blur as "macro" blur which I expected. #8252272

Joan E. Hoffman December 28, 2009

just reread that... have gotten so lazy... please put commas wherever they make sense to you LOL! #8252288
