Room in a Little House

Uploaded: August 23, 2009

Description

A very little house! The broom is made from a toothpick, which will give you an idea of the size.

This is part of a Memory House I made several years ago for a contest. It is not a model of our home in Baja but represents some of the houses there and contains momentos from the years we spent in Mexico. The painting on the mantel is a miniature version of a painting done by a friend (which is still above her mantle now), and the book-ends are pebbles painted by another friend, who usually paints much larger rocks.

The table with the lamp is a chunk of stone from our "real" house, and the photos are mine (reduced to about 1/2" in size). The dog is Paco who belongs to another friend, the cat is Mugsy (ours) and the little wooden door behind the couch is a "window of truth." (You find these in straw bale homes: open the door and you see the straw which forms the walls beneath the stucco.)

This illustrates the creative power of memory!

Wow! I REALLY appreciate your comments!! It would go to my head -- if I had won the contest. LOL!!!! (I didn't) I am working on another entry now so we'll see what happens, but it won't be so elaborate. The theme this year is not a house, it's a pergola (gazebo) and I'm just a little stumped.

The contest by the way really IS a photo contest! They never see the Real Thing.

In this photo, I toned down the reds which I thought were much too glaring on my desktop monitor. Now that I see it on the laptop, maybe I shouldn't have because it looks rather dark.

Thanks SO MUCH for your GREAT comments, they are really appreciated!!! #7880296
