After a meal, the Northern Copperhead (Agkistrodon contortrix mokasen) will lie motionless in a benign basking position...using the rays of the sun to aid in digestion.
An effective camoflage makes him difficult to spot among the leaf litter so when hiking in the woods, it's wise to watch your step.
