The Wind Mill

Uploaded: August 10, 2009

Description

"De Immigrant"

Fulton, Illinois

(This authentic Dutch wind mill was constructed in the Netherlands, then dis-assembled and shipped to Illinois where the builders re-assembled it. Made of wood, it sits on the banks of the Mississippi River - one of only two such working wind mills in the USA actually producing grain with the power of the wind. You can buy the stone-ground flour in the shop on the lower level and it's also sold at certain markets in the area.)

You had a beautiful day for this shot, love the sky. I seen a lot of these in Holland years ago, they would send certain messages by turning the blade at a certain angle and the canvas they use on the blades were also used, they sure are interesting. Beautiful shot Nadya #7834745

Nadya- It is always so refreshing to see something like this that still is producing and has proven that some of the old inventions still are the best.
Not only that, but it offers a fasinating beauty that would decorate and be in harmony with any landscape. I love the blades of the windmill and the fact that the mail part is made of wood. What a beautiful blue sky you had for this picture with the white clouds. Gorgeous color, lighting and clarity are outstanding.
Fantastic work my friend.
Have a blessed day, you take care girl. #7836745
