Memories for Sale

(When did Velveeta come in wooden boxes??)

Taken at the flea market. I love old stuff but there is something very bittersweet in such momentoes from the past. You wonder, who used the iron... who played with the doll? Who used to play with the puzzle by the fire-place on winter nights?

About the cheese - - Velveeta was first produced in 1918 by Emil Frey, a Swiss immigrant in Monroe, New York. The company was sold to Kraft in 1927. And yes, it came in wooden boxes. Who'd have thought??

You have captured this memory lane perfectly my friend. Like you when I see things like this you wonder about the life they had. I remember years ago that my grandpa used those cheese boxes to store his nails and tacks in out in his farm shop. #7832653

You always find the BEST vintage stuff captured so perfectly Nadya. Love this because it makes me think one man's junk is another man's treasures. And this is a treasure to me. #7833092

A wonderfully lit and composed display. Velveeta...I never could swallow it, because long before I could read, the Velveeta box (cardboard, in my time) had some sort of promotion with a picture of a SOCK on it. So I thought the stuff was made of socks...sure smelled like it, too! #7833216
