Taking a Break

Description

4/9 - Animals
Although the red breast of this hummingbird is the result of reflection from the feeder, I felt it was ok to leave it as shot instead of trying to take the red out. This little guy was quite a site to see over and over from feeder to feeder.

Exif: F Number: 5.6, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/2500 seconds, Flash: did not fire., ISO: 100, White balance: Manual white balance, FocalLength: 150.00 mm, Model: NIKON D40X

Very beautiful Vicki. I have one almost like it in my gallery. You really picked up the red reflection from the feeder on his chest. What a handsome guy. #1111247

Thank you, Kathy! I was aiming for images in flight but with my SLR on the fritz, I just wasn't able to. We only have about 2 weeks with these little fellas, so I'm determined to capture all I can! #7388051

Love these little hummers. For the last 3 years I've had them visit my backyard feeder. I have similar one perched on the feeder in my gallery. I have not yet succeeded in taking them in flight. #7388389

Thanks for the visits Dominick and Loan. I'm determined to get a great in-flight shot before they head up north! #7389662

It's nice to see them still, too...great capture of this little hummer. I spent hours last year trying to get good images of these little guys in flight..it isn't easy, is it? They're so incredibly fast!

Thanks for the visit, Patti. Yes, they are unbelievably challenging to get in flight. We hadn't seen any for a few days, so I was worried they had left us, but then today I saw one TWICE....back to being obsessed!

Check out Sherry McLead's in flight image she captured..I helped her a bit with the editing, but the shot is all her...OMG, if it doesn't get gold, I'll be SHOCKED!
