Description

3/31/09 ~ Animals ~ FINALIST
Florida Sandhill Crane Colts
(Colt is the correct term for young Sandhills)
4/29/09 Sad update. I went down to photograph them today and one of the youngsters is missing. The remaining one is now quite large and should be able to fly soon, I hope. The lake does contain alligators, so I'm afraid that might have been the fate of the youngster.

I am sorry to say they are one ugly bird, but sometimes you can be so ugly you are adorable. The twins are so cute and this is a wonderful capture of them. #7357930

They do look a bit ungainly. This is probably due to the fact that their legs grow faster than their bodies to enable them to run away. #7359741

I am really enjoying your documentation of these lovely birds. I don't think they are ugly at all, just normal baby looks. lol #7427857
