A High Key Portrait of My Daughter

Comments

Hi Edward, I am in Jim's photography class and our assignment this week is black and white portraits. This is so lovely. Would you mind telling me what is a high key protrait and what makes it so? Thanks for the education. #22532

Very nice portrait Edward, and a lovely
daughter. Simple, good lighting and the texture of the background is soft and complementary to her youthfull skin. Duane C. #52974

Thanks for the wonderful comments.

Sharon, I have gotten some other feedback that his portrait really doesn't fit the standard high key portrait. What I do know though is that I should have had less contrast between my daughter and the background and perhaps she should have been wearing something lighter. I started this particular project with taking a white muslin backdrop and making the background light 2 stops brighter than the main light. I set the exposure on the camera for the main light, which would in turn blow out the backdrop. I should have had more light on my daughter. I hope this helped you.
