Finalist
This was a Kodak POTD in January, 2010.
I know this is not a good animal portrait but I find the lines and play of light and shadow very pleasing. I took it at the Albuquerque Zoo -- which we practically had to ourselves when we visited on a chilly winter morning. No wonder this guy was seeking a bit of sun!

Beautiful portrait, Nikki!!! As you say, the lines and the lighting make this image perfect for the Elements Of Design Category. I would add that the composition is beautiful and those textures are simply amazing. I also love the colors all within the same range of browns and golds. A Winner in my books!!!
