The Starry Sky Above Me
Uploaded: January 04, 2009
I took this shot of the milky way in a moonless night in the Dolomites near Cortina d'Ampezzo (north Italy). I had to get used to the dark for a while to make the composition and see clearly the milky way. I chose my Sigma 10-20mm lens, at a focal lenght of 10mm to record the stars still and at full aperture f/4, and I made some exposures at 1600ISO for 30 sec each. The result shown here is the composition of 4 different shots, stitched together in Photoshop CS3 and adjusted with noise reduction, levels, contrast and brigthness to bring out the faint light of the milky way.
Exif: F Number: 4, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 30/1 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 1600, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 10.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 450D
