PG 101 - Rascal Flatts ST Theme

These are my neighbors, Madeline and Sheng. The family adopted Sheng from China in the spring of this year. Sheng was born with a cleft lip and pallet. He had surgery as an infant to correct the cleft lip and had surgery on Oct. 27, 08 to correct his cleft pallet. It was a tough surgery, but he is recovering nicely. I did a photo shoot for the family to take Sheng's first portraits. He is so happy in his new home and loves his family. As the song title goes, he waited all of his life to find a family that would love and care for him. He's precious and his sister adores him.

Thank you, Carolyn, Dominick, Deb, Bill and Bonnie!

Bonnie, I have a few shots of Sheng in my gallery, before the cleft pallet surgery, but you cannot tell any difference in his appearance before or after the cleft pallet was corrected. The surgery was done on the inside of his month. He has more surgeries to go through and lots of orthodontist work. The next surgery will be when he's around 7 yr. old, they will have to do a bone graft and work on his teeth. He is 2 1/2 yr. old and unable to talk due to his birth defect. He is learning sign language and goes to speech therapy. He is trying to adjust to the new feeling in his mouth with the pallet closed. With time, he should be able to form words. He has a long road ahead. #6779032
