Puffin in Flight

Uploaded: August 23, 2008

Description

Taken on a recent trip to the Farne Islands sittuated just of the north east caost of England. Puffins spend most of their lives at sea only returning to dry land to rear their young. The eggs are laid in a burrow safe from the many preditors that gather around the islands at this time. They use the small claws at the end of their webbed feet to dig this burrow or some times just use old ones from previous years. There are around 70,000 pairs in a good year but sadly their numbers are begining to drop.

Taken handheld eith a 100-400L IS @ f/5.6 and 1/1600th sec, ISO 200.

Exif: F Number: 6.3, Exposure Bias Value: -0.67, ExposureTime: 1/2000 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 200, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 400.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 20D
